As its name suggests static grass relies on static electricity to make it 'stand up'.

A static grass applicator creates a charge between the applicator and an earth - usually a pin stuck into the glue.

For this to work the glue has to conduct electricity, and this static grass glue has been specially formulated to give good conductivity and the right consistency to hold the grass fibres upright.
